PM5 display error

Not sure when this started on my PM5, but it starts to annoy me. The display shows a line at the very bottom that doesn't seem to be intended. It always shows up, no matter which Display/Unit option I choose. It changes its appearance constantly with every stroke.

Any suggestion if I should be concerned or is this just normal behaviour of the PM5? Apart from this little annoyance it works fine.

The display itself is faulty.

Wouldn't worry about it until things get so bad you cannot see numbers etc.

Usually the lines go missing. You can get faded parts and the older PM3/4 displays formed blotches.

It is possible something has got inside the monitor. The gym or rowing club monitors get in quite a mess and corrosion can be a problem.

The PM5 display has been very reliable, however on the newer hardware versions the LCD is now glued to the front plastic, this stops liquid getting inside.

Sweat getting inside the monitor is a big problem and it is very corrosive.

Thank you Carl, sounds very reasonable. As it's my own machine which I keep dry and clean I'll have a look inside for some hidden corrosion. Maybe it's a sign that I create too much moisture in my pain cave.

I can be just bad luck when it comes to a display failure.

Generally the PM5 display is good and only gets replaced when the glass gets smashed, usually a gym machine.

A cheap remedy maybe....try adjusting the contrast?
