ErgData Android connected, but not displaying

Hello.

Pixel 6 user here, first row in 3 months on the same old PM5 I use at my YMCA, using ErgData v2.1.1 on Android.

As usual I connect and begin to row, but ErgData stays all 0s and not keeping up with PM5.

This PM5's firmware has always been out of date (they never update it apparently), but that's never stopped the app on this machine before. Has something changed in the app where a firmware update is now absolutely necessary?

Could very well be. I was a beta-tester for the new app, and they explicitly demanded up-to-date firmware.
