Ergdata doesn't save workouts after upgrade of PM5 to 161

Post by ajk » April 12th, 2018, 3:38 pm

Hi guys,

I've updated my PM5 to 161 earlier this week. Now, i run into the problem that the ergdata app on ios doesn't work properly anymore.

It does connect using bluetooth, registers the workout including heartrate and registers the end of a workout (either due to inactivity or pressing the menu button). So far so good, but after pressing the save option in the app, the data is not stored in the logbook (screen 3), so cannot be synced to the online logbook. Also, after clicking the save button, the app displays a message in red "Workout active" at the bottom left of the screen.

It looks like an app problem (cleary the app got all the data), so should be able to store it like before. But since the app didn't change lately and worked perfectly before, and the PM5 was updated and all workouts following the update go wrong, it is likely related to the PM5 update.

It's very easy to replicate the problem. Any workout will register data on the app during workout, but after the workout ends, and the data is supposed to be saved, it isn't there in the logbook.

Is this a known problem? Is there a way to revert to the older firmware on the PM5 in the meantime? Or is there another way to get detailed data to the online logbook?

Bye, Arthur

Try using Painsled until they fix this.

Just want to chime in that I don't have this issue, but my PM5 is the older hardware revision with firmware 26. Could be a bug with 161.

Have tried connecting and disconnecting, stopping app in the background and restarting and various ways to start and stop the session. All fails. Ergdata doesn't capture my session regardless.

Ergdata is capturing most of data fields except cal, cal/hr, and Drive Time. That remains 0.00 sec througout the session.

I've captured a short video of a session, showing pm5 and ergdata in a short session to show what's going on if it helps. If there's anyone from concept2 interested, send me an email, and happy to share.

As i'm pretty convinced by now that this is related to the PM5 upgrade, i would like to revert to the previous version 159. Does anyone know how to do this?

Is this Android Ergdata or iOS Ergdata?

For the Android version https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... t2.ergdata tells us to contact the developer by email to rowing@concept2.com

It's probably the same for the Apple version.

I'm also having the issue on IOS Errdate .. Screen 1 seems to be working .. screen 2 (Data) are all zeros except for Drag Factor and when the workout is ended it doesn't get transferred to Ergdata

I got it working again. After trying restarting phone, switching connection on and off on pm5, trying other apps (Painsled, liverowing) and even including the cable, i thought only a downgrade would work.

Today, i tried an old ipad that never was paired before, and i got it working on all apps, including ergdata on both bluetooth and on painsled with cable as well.

After trying the ipad, i tried my phone and suddenly connection on my phone was working perfectly again, ergdata worked like before.

So not sure what the exact fix was, but think it may have to do with remembering device that was paired before, maybe with past version of firmware. Just a guess, but got it sorted out the moment i replaced my phone with an older ipad, and that solved the problem for the phone as well.

Hope this helps you as well. Success!

I rebooted the iPhone today and it worked .. go figure. I also put a flash drive in the PM5 which allowed me to save my heart rate monitor

I did a programmed interval workout with 5 min - 30 min - 5 min. In the midst of the first 5 min I changed the damper settings from 5 to 8 (drag factor 120 to 160). Ergdata and the pm5 had no problems with this, showed the correct drag factor and continued recording (ergdata runs on Android via bluetooth, firmware 161, no other problems yet). When I watched the workout in my C2 logbook I discovered that the total time and distance were recorded, but from the moment I changed the damper setting I get no information about speed, stroke rate, heart rate etc - the graphs just end at the moment of changing the damper setting.

Is this a known issue and is there any workaround?
