C2 Utility crashes when trying Transfer to Spreadsheet

Post by InlineJinn » January 4th, 2017, 10:19 pm

Hi,

I'm running a C2 D rowing machine with the PM5 Monitor, running what I believe (and the C2 Utility says) is the latest PM5 firmware.
C2 Utility version 7.05.3

I can store workouts on the USB drive, and upload them from the USB drive to the online Concept2 Logbook. However, when I click "Transfer to Spreadsheet" in the Utility, and select a spreadsheet (either the existing default ss name, or enter a new name), I get the "Concept2 Utility.exe has stopped working" dialog box. Is there a way to get my stored workouts off the USB drive and into a spreadsheet?

Thanks,
John B.

Oops - forgot the basic information:
Windows 10 Professional
8 GB RAM
Over 500 GB hard drive space
Microsoft Excel 2007

Thanks,

Hi!

I have the same Problem with Win 8.1 Pro. Sometimes it crashes but the csv-file has been created correctly. Sometimes the csv-file is damaged and can't be used.

My Workaround: Open the C2 Utility as Administrator. Right click and select 'Open as Administrator'. Then create the spreadsheet as usual.

Does this work for you?

Open the C2 Utility and click the "FEEDBACK" link on the home page. That gets sent directly to the folks who can fix this.

Done, but when I click Send there is no acknowledgement that it actually sent. A message telling me that my feedback has been sent to C2 would be reassuring. :?

Report that as another bug.

Turns out it's doesn't happen all the time, like all the best bugs

Rowed a half-marathon today, uploaded to the C2 logbook, then successfully transferred from the USB stick to an Excel Spreadsheet using the C2 Utility (twice). I hadn't changed anything else. I did download the previous version of the C2 Utility (6.99), but didn't install it, so that shouldn't make any difference.

@Matthias: I didn't try opening the C2 Utility as Administrator, but I'll keep that in mind if I have trouble with the spreadsheet function again.

Thanks,
John B.

I too was having problems with the Concept 2 Utility crashing when I tried to upload my workouts both to my on-line log and as a CSV file. I tested both my HP desktop computer as well as my Windows Surface Pro 3, each running Windows 10 and had the same issues with the Utility crashing. My solution for both computer was to change the Utility to run under Windows 8. After doing so, I've had zero Utility program crashes.

Close the Concept2 Utility if it's open
Right click on the Concept2 Utility shortcut
Select "Properties" from the context menu
Select the "Compatibility" tab
Place a checkmark in the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
Use the dropdown menu and select "Windows 8"
Select "Apply" and then "OK"
