PM3 or PM4 simulation for software development

Hello all,
I am attempting to do some programming with the PM3 but in order to test things, I am needing to pull the erg handle to have data sent to the USB port. Does C2 provide a software simulator for the PM3 which can be used by application developers?

I tried recording the sound (clicks) while rowing and then playing them back into the PM during testing. I was unsuccessful, probably the playback voltage was too low so maybe doing it through an amplifier would work. I didn't have a scope and couldn't measure the voltage of the clicks. But I think the approach could be made to work.
