Nightwish?
Nightwish?
I am writing this in English as that's all I know. I live in the USA and do lots of posting on the main site. I am a big fan of music and always listen to music when I row. A favorite band of mine is Nightwish and they have a female lead singer that is Dutch - Floor Jansen. So, was curious if there are Nightwish fans on the Netherlands forum.

Re: Nightwish?
Awesome! I think we may have shared music choices once on the training forum. I have always been a Hard Rock, Metal, Classic Rock type and when rowing listen to bands like Metallica, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Megadeth....hundreds of them. I discovered Nightwish by "accident" a couple years ago and have been a huge fan since. For some reason they just haven't completely caught on here in the USA and are much more popular in other countries. I am driving 6 hours in May to go see them in Chicago. They play to tens of thousands in Europe but I will see them at a venue that holds like 2,000. I can't wait.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑March 31st, 2022, 11:37 amI'm not dutch but a Nightwish fan, hard music and a great opera voice fits perfect I thinkKeithT wrote: ↑March 31st, 2022, 11:31 amI am writing this in English as that's all I know. Wow, that sounds great! Only a big fan will drive 6 hours, that's longer than I need from one side of Austria to the otherKeithT wrote: ↑March 31st, 2022, 11:50 amAwesome! I didn't remember sharing music choices, maybe this was before I found this forum. Looks like we have a similar music taste, Metallica and Megadeth are on my playlist too, also: Slayer, Slipknot, Rammstein, Helloween, Rob Zombie, Trivium... and some german metal bands you propably haven't heard of as they sing in german, like Centhron and Eisbrecher.

Yes, we have similar taste for sure. I listen to Rammstein but don't know Centhron and Eisbrecher - will have to check them out now.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑March 31st, 2022, 12:19 pmWow, that sounds great! Re: Nightwish?
Hi Keith, nightwish is not so well known in the Netherlands, its a Finish band, Floor now is known, but thats after she did a season in a singing show. Most populair artists over here are much more in the poppy genres, or modern (dutch) hiphop. Most so crap your ears start bleeding and could be used in quantanamo bay as torture.KeithT wrote: ↑March 31st, 2022, 11:31 amI am writing this in English as that's all I know. Pitty Marco left.
Never seen them life, had tickets, but with all the covid crap, they could never perform. Floor is now going here own way a bit, again onto the poppy side I get it, thats what people mostly like. I won’t try to listen though.
Ps, Your are still going strong, still around settings Pb s. Good work!
Re: Nightwish?
Yeah, I knew being Finish they may not be quite as popular but knowing Floor fronts them and I seen all her Betse Zangers performances I thought maybe they were a bigger deal in the Netherlands. They have such large appeal in many countries but not so much in others. I was really bummed Marco left and they lost their drummer too who was awesome (Jukka) due to health issues. The new drummer is amazing too but cant replace Marco and the way he sang and complimented Floor's voice. Speaking of Floor, her new single is definitely more of a mainstream song - of course her voice is amazing and she can (and does) sing everything - I just hope its not leading to her leaving Nightwish.hjs wrote: ↑April 3rd, 2022, 2:44 amHi Keith, nightwish is not so well known in the Netherlands, its a Finish band, Floor now is known, but thats after she did a season in a singing show. Thanks on the rowing! I am doing my best to beat back Father Time. PBs are not too frequent but I still get some here and there and haven't lost too much. I had some issue coming back from COVID and was worried I may never get back to form but was able to. Really want to try and improve 2K and go to the Worlds in Toronto next year and be in a new age group. I haven't done the 2K World Championship since California in 2019 - want to do it in-person.
