Ignore User feature
Do you have a view on whether the change in the flow is for the better? or for the worse? (Whatever the answer, I'm very pleased to have the feature available...it is so much more pleasant to be able to avoid those whose posts are disturbing in some sense... Thanks again!)c2bill wrote:this has proven to be a popular feature - so far 29 users have chosen to use the function - with a total of 7 users appearing as 'ignored'. very interesting to see how this changed the flow of th forum.

i think time will tell re conversation flow - i'm going to guess that the flow improves, and that the overall blood pressure and life expectency of some of the forumites improves...
as for posting the # of ignores per user - i'm a bit loathe to do this, as it has a fairly negative tone - however i think it will become quite clear what is happening as the use of 'ignore' spreads. currently 30 people are ignoring the same particular user...

How about a "Block Reader" button? That way individual authors could 'reverse ignore' and then not have to deal with the subsequent slanderous posts from those they would like to ignore.
"You have been blocked by the author of this post from reading their content".

"You have been blocked by the author of this post from reading their content".

Bill, can you take some of the vertical space out of the "replacement post" that goes in for posts from ignored users? I note that the version on the UK board is very narrow (vertically speaking) compared to what you have here. Since narrower is less obtrusive...
BTW, whether or not you can make this adjustment, just wanted to make sure you knew I'm very happy with your new feature!

I am not suggesting you let the world see who is being ignored, but rather the ignored party themselves, and not even a list of names, maybe just a number.c2bill wrote:i think time will tell re conversation flow - i'm going to guess that the flow improves, and that the overall blood pressure and life expectency of some of the forumites improves...

I don't try to alienate people, but sometimes I do. I would like to know the extent to which I am ignored, maybe it will help me to become less abrasive.

Abrasive?! Last time we met, I observed no sharp edges on either of us.Dickie wrote: I don't try to alienate people, but sometimes I do. I would like to know the extent to which I am ignored, maybe it will help me to become less abrasive.

Hi Bill. I guess it took me a while to get curious about one of the posts from someone I've "ignored"...but when I clicked on the "HERE" link in the replacement message that says:
Could you check on the ability to selectively see a post from someone who has been added to an "Ignore List"?
Thanks.
Alissa
I didn't get the replaced message. The only way I could see the message was to go to my list of ignored persons (clicked the "Ignore List" in the replacement message), take the poster off the list, look at the post I wanted to see and then "re-ignore" them. You have added this person to your Ignore List. Thanks.

I did the same thing about a week ago and got the same result.
Then I silently thanked Bill for saving me from myself.
