My model E is about 3 years old and about 1.5 million meters on it. As far as maintenance goes, I've kept the chain oiled according to directions and there isn't any dust in the flywheel area. That's it.
I'm just now starting to hear what I'll call a rattle in the chain area when I go from Drive to Finish and back to Drive. No vibration, just sound. I used to only hear the whooshing sound of air and so this is new but not real loud...its there and I know it and it bugs me.
Any ideas?

Make 100% your not hitting the chain guide on any strokes as it makes exactly the sound you describe.
If you good with mechanics then remove the chain and clean it. Check for wear in the section that does all the work on the gear as the chain is 2.6metres long, most of it does nothing in terms of transfering the load. Put it in a container and allow it to soak in oil or the likes of the clear silicone oil and reinstall it.
While appart check the chain idlers for noise by spinning them by hand.
