My garage floor slopes toward the front, big door side. Every time I set up the slides I fiddle around with the bubble level and wood shims.

Has anyone ever fitted threaded, adjustable leveling feet to their slides?

Any other suggestions?

I have the same problem when using slides at our rowing club. The floor looks dead flat to the naked eye but it actually slopes ever so slightly to the river end of the club.

It's a pain in the butt to set up each time but I place two small pieces of timber under the front bar of the first slide end(facing the river end of the club). C2 slides are very sensitive to uneven surfaces and hence must be dead flat to have a worthwhile row.

In reality the C2 erg is way too heavy to work efficiently on slides. You are far better off to sell the C2 & slides and purchase an Oartec Slider erg(for less than the price of a C2 erg). It's basically a design based on a C2 erg with the slides already imcorporated into the erg. Furthermore it has a very simple to operate shim adjuster underneath to level out the slide rails when on an uneven floor.

Hmmm...I'm not sure what website you're looking at but the Oartec Slider is 2050AUD, which as of today is $1900US. A model D with PM4 and slides costs $1340US.

Each slide has to be level, but they both don't have to be on the same plane.

Mark the floor where the slides go. Then figure out what shims to use, mark them and keep them together. That way you can always put it back in the same place. There is no need to figure this out more then once.

Each slide needs to be level.
It doesn't matter as much if they're both the same height or not.

You can check this with a 4' level or just see how close the feet get to each end.
Then raise up the sides where the feet come the closest, so the slides will come the same distance to each end.

You could also consider building a preleveled platform. Used plywood cut to the correct width and length. Set it down where you erg and level it with shims or whatever. Once it level, glue, nail or screw the shims into place.

The next time you go to erg, simply lay down your platform and go.

No ! That's Incorrect.

Oartec Slider is $1850 AUS (Current offer as per their Aussie website)

C2 Model D with PM3 monitor $1870 AUS (As per C2 Aust website)

It's a no brainer. Why pay more to stuff around with an awkward and heavy contraption when you can get a cheaper and more efficient all in one erg.

None of that is going to make you row any better.

C2 has to do that in order to keep people motivated on what would otherwise be a very boring exercise machine.

I guess the difference is whether the original poster is in the US or AUS. In the US C2 is clearly the lower cost option, AUS is the other way 'round. Makes sense.
