PM4 doesn't remember heart rate monitor

I stopped using the heart rate chest transmitter some months ago then recently started using it again. The MP4 on my C2 doesn't seem to find the transmitter unless I click on "Connect Heart Rate." When I do that and it finds the belt and I tell it to remember the belt it will still forget the next time I go to row. I do have a card in the PM4.

Possibly related is that the display used to stay on between rows but now goes blank after a while. I always have the PM4's USB cable connected to my Macbook Pro for power. Is the battery going low? I've had the rower for several years and have never thought about the battery since I assumed that power from the computer would be enough. Do I need to replace the battery? Could this be related to the problem of the PM4 not remembering the heart rate belt? Thanks.

You need to use a LogCard to remember an ANT/ANT+ HR strap serial number.

What version of firmware is installed on your PM4? You need to be on 318 (PM4A) 29 (PM4) or 709 (Skierg).

The Concept 2 Utility tells me:

PM Firmware Version: 318 Build 0
Hardware Version: 321

If I go through the motions of having it upgrade the firmware it tells me that it would be upgrading to the same version. At that point I abort.

Write up your problem report and email it to rowing@concept2.com. They'll need to know your firmware version and the make/model of your HR strap.

It turns out that I removed the rechargeable battery pack and put it back in and the problem is resolved. So, rebooting the PM4 cleared the problem.

I have had the same problem and will have to give that a try. I had just gotten used to it and never researched the issue. Thanks for sharing.
