Model C - Rattles/Squeeks!!

I've recently purchased a used Concept 2 model C rower....it's in good condition but there seems to be a lot of noise coming from the chain and spindle area (squeeks and rattles).. I've also noticed that the chain is twisted near the handle!...would a "silencer kit" improve things and make the rower feel "smoother"....if so what does the kit consist of, and is it easy to retro fit??...

Have you oiled the chain recently? There shouldn't be a twist in the chain. I am not familiar with the C, but the B and D both had swivel connections to the handle that should eliminate any twisting of the chain. If the C has such a swivel, maybe it needs oil too.

Unfortunately, the C didn't have a swivel connection.

Tried oiling the chain but made no difference.....the company I purchased it from are sending an enginner to fit a new chain on Friday...hopefully this will cure the problem!

New chain fitted today....and a great improvement!....much smoother and quiter....
