I had my Concept 2 Model D erg for about a year and a half and never had a problem with it or its PM3 monitor. However, now the monitor won't turn on. Now I did not check the battery before it died could that have been the problem, or would it have given some kind of warning?

There's normally a warning that the battery is getting soft.

Best thing is a new pair of D-cells, then upgrade the firmware to the latest version. If that doesn't work you'll need to call Concept2.
