for canadian rowers- need info re buying an erg

Post by madrower68 » February 20th, 2009, 7:09 am

Can anyone tell me what the final cost is on an erg from C2 delivered to BC is? I've given up on finding a used C2 and think I have to buy new now. Since it's a lot of money I'd like to know in advance about all border fees, duties etc. Thanks.

I bought mine from Fitness Depot:

They have stores in BC. I was happy dealing with them.

(I have no affiliation with the company.)

In addition to trying a local retailer, you might just call or e-mail C2. They have been pretty good w/ me about delivery of stuff (PM3 upgrade kit, etc). In fact, we agreed on US Postal delivery, as it eliminated a whole bunch of extra fees that the courier companies charge for customs, etc. As C2 products are of US origin, there are no duties (yay NAFTA !).
Not sure how it might work for a full erg, but they are pretty friendly and knowledgeable about shipping north of the border.

One other option, if you have not already done so, would be to contact someone involved in the Monster Erg regatta in Victoria. They would certainly know a fair bit about getting ergs to BC.

Best of luck getting your erg & look forward to hearing about how it goes once you have one.

Cheers. Patrick.

Thanks for the tips from both of you. I ended up going with Fitness depot as I didn't want to wait any longer. They gave me a floor model discount I was happy enough with. My model d will be here next week and I'm looking forward to it.
