Store in a closet?

Post by KDreese » February 8th, 2009, 11:24 pm

I am thinking about buying a concept 2 but wonder about the storage. I live in an apartment and have the space to run the machine in the bedroom (9 feet plus, etc.) but wonder about how reasonable it is to store after every use. Basically, after each I would need to fold it and store it in a closet with a 28" opening and 34" deep (Height is not a problem with 9 foot cielings).

I searched on this topic and it sounds like it dismantles/assembles quickly but I couldnt find specs that measure the specific height of the bar and the height of the fan assembly... would they go into a closet as two seperate pieces? Could they be stored seperately? The alternative to this machine would be one of the foldable dual arm piston type rowers... however I am used to rowing dinghy row boats and thought a C2 would be so much better than the piston type.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

KD

Storage requirement for two upright pieces is 27” x 47 x 54.5”H (Model E) and 25” x 33” x 53”H (Model D) .

I noticed those overall specs, but I was wondering if someone has the measurements for the individual pieces. For instance, if I put the fan/front portion at the bottom of a closet and store the frame piece somewhere else I am wondering how big the foot print is.

Thanks for the help.

KD

Hi KD - I store my model D in a corner of my den in 2 pieces. The individual piece sizes (rough measurements) are as follows:

Rail assembly - I store it standing up with the seat at the bottom.
Length 54" x Height of the back support 12" and Width 13"

Fan assembly - is stored with the fan at the bottom and the foot supports up. Height: 50" x Deep (the distance from the front of the fan to the front supports) is 32" and the width of the front supports is about 23"

Hope this helps. Marvinh

Perfect. Thanks. Thats exactly what I wanted... now I can measure and see if I can fit it in the closet and still use part of the close once its in there.

It can also be stored as the single unit. In that case, the footprint is the same as that of the fan assembly alone, 32" x 23", but the height is 94". Since it is so high, it can be a hazard out in a room, but is probably safe enough in a closed closet. That would be a good option if the closet is high but has limited floor space. It also saves the minor nuisance of assembly and disassembly each time it is used.

As Bob said, just tip the erg up on the fan end, and there is no reason to take it apart.

I took mine in the car (in two pieces) to a Toastmasters meeting for a speech, rolled it into the room,
and stood it on end to the side of the lecturn. It got a lot of attention. About 1/2 the people there gave it a try after the meeting.
Some of the others were too shy.

However, it is very easy to prop up on the end and stays in that position.
