Recovery not smooth in Concept2 Model D rower: Please help!

Post by aejteh » October 7th, 2008, 8:36 am

Hi, I've had a Model D for about 2 years, and it has started to give me problems in the recovery phase in that the handle returns to the flywheel but it is not smooth on some strokes and OK on others. It's kinda strange! It's as if there was some resistance along the chain that is slowing the return of the handle towards the flywheel - the handle does return all the way to the flywheel but it is just a split second slower than usual/normal. Again, this happens only on some strokes (maybe for about 1- 2 minutes), then seems to be OK for about 3 minutes, etc... This is what I've tried so far: I've cleaned and lubricated the chain (several times) using the oil that came with my rower AND I've even tightened the shock cord a little. Both these steps did not really help to solve the problem. I would really, really appreciate any suggestions to fix the problem with my rower.

Turn the rower up on it's end or upside down and take off the cover to the housing underneath.

Make sure everything is moving smoothly and then put the erg back together.
