Hi All, I just adjusted the cord on my model b rower, but my question is how tight do you make the cord. I pulled about 3 inches back thru the SCAM and reassembled, works fine, but how do I know if I went to much.

That sounds about right for a minor adjustment. The whole thing is 10 feet long (untensioned), so you are making a small adjustment to the overall length, and if the tension feels consistent from catch to finish, you have done well.

I put off adjusting mine on the modelB, mostly because I didn't know much about it.
Then I finally looked the details and the adjustment took me about 2 minutes total.
The cord had gotten to the point where it wasn't going back within 6 inches of the cage,
which was interfering with my stroke, especially on sprints.
I basically tightened the cord so the handle would go back up to the cage but no tighter than that.

I just wasn't sure if there was such a thing as to much tension. It feels real good now, it comes back smoothly and fully. Thanks for your input. Jeff

New shock cords will seem tighter in the beginning, but once the "newness" stretches out a bit the tension is okay(for me it was about 100K--John, what about your change?). Just don't let the handle "fly" to the cage by simply letting it go.
For re-adjusted cords, you do want to be sure you're not putting any slightly worn spots in a position where they can continue to experience wear.

The tension in the new cord was way too tight for me, even after loosening it to the max.
I probably rowed a few more million meters after that, and still preferred the old cord.
My advice is to keep adjusting and using the old cord for as long as possible.
