Just lost out on a model B for free. What are decent secondary market prices for each of the models on a site like Craigs list where shipping isn't an issue.

Concept 2 Model B from $ to $
Concept 2 Model C from $ to $
Model D and Model E

I think some of these sellers are lumping C and D in together to get a higher return on a C unit. Please guide me Obi Wan.
Thanks

Price of the modelB can vary greatly depending on conditions and upgrades. I sold mine a year ago for $585. One in poor condition with no upgrades might be worth only $100 if that. Typical price $250-400. Things to look for are the following.

pm1 - erratic and gives 1-3s slower readings
pm2 - accurate and excellent, the best made by C2
pm3 - erratic meter countdown and starts, other than for those things it is accurate

wood foot plates are excellent, the best made by C2

resistance is easily adjusted to match later models with a home made speed ring

makes more noise but it is a low hum, covering the cage reduces it dramatically

small padded seat is very uncomfortable, needs to be upgraded ($20)

Used modelC in good condition typical price $550-650.

John,

what is the seat upgrade about, and where to find it? I did not notice it in the B section upgrades section.

Thanks,

Joe

I would suggest you do not buy a used rower unless it was a good deal.
I would pay up to $150 for a B [I wouldn't buy one]
And I would pay up to$300-$400 for a C
$500 to $600 for a D depending on shape
Why not save a little more and buy a new one. I beleive a new one cost around $850, that's what I would do.

Joe,

The modelB seat was very uncomfortable for me, though some people prefer it.

I made a seat out of wood and foam to replace it, then C2 sent one from a modelC
which was much more comfortable. Now I have a modelD, that has the same type of seat.

The wood and foam seat still works quite well too.

If you are patient just keep checking craigslist, one will pop up. I got lucky and got a basically brand new model C for free from a family member. I still check CL for them and just recently found a model C for $175 and a model D for $500, both of which are very good deals. Personally I wouldn't pay more than $400 for a C or $550-600 for a D.

Thank you, John. I agree; the seat is not all that comfortable, especially after 20 minutes.
