One of the comments I have heard about the dynamic is that some users find it difficult to get full range of movement at front stops, finding it difficult at low rates to get the shins to vertical. I purchased a second hand dynamic which came with a 2cm lifter fitted under the seat. Tried it with and without the spacer and definitely feels better and more like sculling my single with the spacer fitted. With a pair of shoes fitted into the concepts foot plate, with one hole showing at the top, this gives a 19cm drop from seat to heels which is just a smidgen higher than in my single but gives that same feeling of floating up to front stops.
I have noticed with dynamic users at my rowing club that those with inflexible ankles get a lot more heel lift on the recovery on the dynamic than they do on the fixed. This is presumably because of the lack of pre loading (the beauty of the dynamic) but the higher heels must add to the difficulty of getting full range at front stops.
For non rowing dynamic users it might be worth trying a 3 to 4 cm lifter to make it more comfortable.
