You need the beta version of the firmware for BT.

Specifically, Version 16 of the firmware. You need to tick the box in the C2 utility to download beta versions of the monitor firmware. Earlier firmware releases won't work.

Version 16 was pulled back to beta because uploading this version as new firmware from a USB stick bricked some monitors (though, thankfully, not mine). For that reason, it's recommended to update this firmware release from the C2 Utility, running on a PC or Mac, not from a USB stick.

I hve installed the 16 beta firmware (build 18) on my pm5, it still does not find my polar h7 bluetooth smart belt.
Why?

I have the same set up you do and it works. The only thing I can think of that might be going on is that you have paired your polar h7 with some other device.

I experimented a lot and up to today the following procedure works best for my setup:
1. Start PM5,
2. Connect the H7 with PM5,
3. Turn on Wireless on PM5,
4. Start ergdata,
5. Start Wrist-Unit (in my case a V800),
6. Ignore the fact that the watch doesn't display the heartrate,
7. Press Start on the watch,
8. Start rowing.

My V800 records the heartrate data and I can add the distance manualy via Flow-Webservice.

So far I'm contend with the fact, that my devices work quite and nice although there is much more on my personal wishlist.
I'd appreciate any suggestions to make the above mentioned procedure simple.

For HR monitoring, I'm using a Suunto Dual belt, which works well with both my PM5 and my (more than ten years old) Polar watch. These devices all play nicely with each other, and also with ErgData on my iPhone. In my case, there are three different protocols in play (the old analogue signal from the belt to the ancient Polar watch, the ANT [or is it ANT+] signal, also from the belt going to the PM5, and the Bluetooth LE signal going from the PM5 to my iPhone. Although it's complex in theory, it's seamless in practice.

I'm sorry that I don't have any experience of Bluetooth LE heart rate belts.

Yes, i pair the polar H7 belt with my iPhone.
It can only pair with one device at the time?

Wait, should i pair the polar belt with the PM5, then connect the PM5 to ergdata on my iPhone?
Will the PM5 AND ergdata then show my heartrate?

It worked, first pair the PM5 with the H7, then connect the iPhone to the PM5 :)
