Got my new D2 today - log card issue

Ok, ill just say that I love this machine.
Easy to setup, well engineered, looks great, quieter than I thought it would be. Im really excited. No more running at night in the cold rain
But I just cant seem to get the computer to see the log card
Ive tried everything, and im a computer geek that is good with gadgets.
Is there some special order of doing things to get the computer to see the card?
When do you insert the card?
I hit the back button until the computer turns off.
Then insert the card.
Turn it back on... go to options, memory... and it gives me a list of workouts in the computers memory.
I dont see the display the manual shows when you have a log card inserted.
Any ideas? Are bad log cards common?

If you're inserting the card chip/blue side towards you then it's a dead card or your PM3/4 that has a faulty reader.
Call Concept2 for hardware support.

Are you inserting the card all the way into the monitor? The first time I used mine, I didn't realize that the bottom of the card should be flush with the bottom of the monitor, so it wasn't recognized.

YES!!! Thank you, that worked!!!
All the pictures show the card inserted up to the C2. Right at the point, it hits a resistance spot in the computer, so I figured that is as deep as it does, and I dont like forcing fragile computer cards.
VERY misleading. Ok, awesome. One less thing I need to deal with now.

I did exactly the same thing with the C2D I received a couple of weeks ago. The pictures are very misleading regarding how far to insert the card. I thought I might have damaged the PM3 when I did insert the card all the way because it just didn't "feel" right. A little clarification on this in the setup guide would be useful.

Yes, it feels like youre breaking through the housing and the card is slipping between two surfaces and penetrating an area of the computer housing it should not be in.

On the same thought, I find if I pull out the card before the monitor shuts down (PM4) I get all sorts of weird things on the display, from vertical lines to having it go into a self-diagnostic test. If I wait for the monitor to turn off, I can pull out the card without any effect. I can't find anything in the manual about this.

Dan, The weirdness you desribe when you remove the card might be indicative of a faulty log card. You should give tech support a call to determine what's going on. C2JonW
