Model A- What is it worth?

I have the opportunity to buy a 1981 (pre serial number) Model A that is in excellent condition, the tachometer works (was recently serviced), and has a new bungee cord.
What do you think it is worth?
Thanks,
Gunnar

All you can do is ask what they want, and come to some sort of agreement that satifies both of you. As far as being mechanically sound, it's worth as much as a Model B if it is in great shape, and you can even get a retrofit kit to update the PM to current levels if you are inclined to do so.
The A will teach you to keep your hands level better than any other C2 machine, but they are still about as noisey as it gets, and also make sure to not have any loose paper in the room.

The model A doesn't measure drag factor does it?
Maybe 50 to $100 would be a good price for it.

If you put the retrofit kit on with a PM, yes, it does. (Otherwise just make sure that the flywheel has 3 feet of open space to the sides and off the end and the DF is "standardized") It's also lot bigger number than we're used to seeing, in the 2000 range, and it isn't displayed on the PM due to lack of space.
The other concern is the type of pickup for the speedometer, if you can see a set of gears, it really is a blast from the past (not even updated with the first retrofit that C2 made).
