Hi everyone,

I've had a Model D with the PM3 (running firmware 97) for almost a year and have really enjoyed it. Recently, the PM3 had the message "Batteries too low for normal operation". So, I replaced the batteries, set the date, time, etc. Went to row and there was no reading from any stroke. After about 10 sec, I got the message again "Batteries too low for normal operation". So I replaced the batteries again (just in case they were bad) - but I get the same response. I've also, reset the PM3, but still no joy.

Anyone have any ideas? I've sent a message into Concept 2 here in Aus, but they've gone for the day.

Appreciate any help.

Upgrade the firmware to V101.

Check the contacts, are they clean.

Check the batteries with a multimeter or by running them in some other piece of kit.

If you have the PM3 connected to computer with a USB lead it will draw 100mA from that (which is enough to run the monitor). That'll get you rowing.

But, I think you'll need to contact Concept2 for hardware support.

Dave- If you haven't done it already, pull a battery and leave it out for 20-30 minutes to fully discharge some capacitors and give a full reset. This is a bug we don't really know the source of- could be a hardware issue. In any case, if it continues to give the error message yoou should request a warranty replacement......C2JonW

Thanks will try that. I've also already just upgraded the firmware to 101 today. We'll see how we go.

Can you see if the PM does the same thing on another rower? If it does not, then I suggest contacting concept2. A broken ground wire in the pickup cable can cause a "batteries too low" indication when the flywheel is running down, and I think could cause a "no row" condition as well.
