I have been rowing at a Rehab Center for the past 6 months on a Model C
unit.
This week I am planning to buy my own rower. I am not sure which model I should get, either a Model D or Model E.

I am leaning towards the Model E, because of the extra seat height and the sturdier design.

Are there any problems with the Model E that I should be aware of?

The additional height is the only thing I'd be concerned with, for folks of less than avg height it can be a chore getting on the thing. This would be compounded if put on slides or a CP1 (articulating platform) is installed.

That said, my wife is 5'8" and rows on a CP1 equipped Mod E on Slides.

If I were able to make a change I think that it would have been a 4" increase in height instead of the 6" that was done, or split the difference to 3".

I am not exactly what you would call tall any more — 5' 10 1/2", but every time I sit down on my model D I wonder if I can get up again — even if I don't pull a single stroke.

While you have probably already made a decision, I thought I'd post a reply for any others interested. I am not new to rowing, but it has been about a year since I did a workout on a erg. I recently got a Model E and my first impression was just the difference in height, but not necessarily good vs bad, just different. I am rather tall (6'4") and I find the height perfect, though my wife and others who are shorter than I have also gotten on and not commented a single word about the height being a challenge. The erg feels solid and all in all I am EXTREMELY pleased with my new erg. Very smooth and very quiet. ENJOY!

Since Boston is long past and he was there, that question is dead. But the thread was not about that question, so it isn't necessarily dead.

I am ordering today! Going for the Model E unless someone convinces me otherwise....

My wife and I got the model E because of the higher seat. Turns out to work well, since after a workout I usually bring a TV tray table and my laptop over to it and download the workout. Sitting on the E is very comfortable due to the extra height. (Not to mention that it takes me longer to stand up at age 62 than it did when I was 42, even though I'm nominally shorter!)
