You can't put a PM2 on a Model A, but you can put a PM3 or PM4 on a A,B,C, & D.

If you are into HR monitoring the PM4 comes with the Suunto Belt (I think) and is ready to go for that. Plus it has additional memory for future updates and features. Frankly I liked the PM2 a lot because I like seeing the individual meters counting down, but I can see that with ErgMonitor on any of the newer machines.
The PM4, as said, can be used on any of the machines through the use of a "secret handshake" to change it's mode, though if getting a retrofit for it, the Mod C and Mod A both have specific part requirements. (Mounting bracket for the A and Arm for the C)

The pm2 is by far my favorite monitor.
The pm3/4 has a force curve which is nice, and shows the current ongoing split, which is nice to use too. Otherwise, the pm2 has quite a few features that are missing on the pm3/4 and I miss them.
Paul's ErgMonitor has a great force curve and many other nice features as well.

Thank's again for the info, probably will try pm4 on the A and just leave the C alone. FBS

Paul didn't say this but you could just use Paul's erg monitor software and a computer for any machine! It much more sophisticated then the PM's.

This is true for the most part. I've had ErgMonitor working on all models of the C2 Erg's so far, however the Model A has posed some interesting problems, so I would not make it a top recomendation at this time, though the free trial certainly is available for those that wish to give it a go.
