Will the Polar Heartrate Chest Belt fit a 52 inch chest?

I'd like to monitor my heartrate but I want to make sure it'll fit me before I buy. Thanks for any help you can provide!

yes... not very comfortably, but it will. It will probably be very useful to you as well. Be sure to get the Performance Monitor attachment for it.

I have a Nashbar monitor that I got some 15 years ago for $49.

The monitor is still working very well, but the chest band has needed replacement.

I got elastic band from a fabric store and reverse looped this through the edges of the plastic strap. The band is now more comfortable than it was before. You can cut the elastic to be as long as you wish.

Thanks for the link, Bob. I may consider this if I need a big replacement (but I hope to have it fit better before I wear it out!). My problem with comfort though is more the tendency for the monitor and the plastic pieces that snap the monitor into place tend to poke into what I'll refer to as fleshy areas on my chest. I'm guessing others with a 52 inch chest may have a similar body type and may experience the same discomfort.

I can sympathize with the problem of being poked by uncomfortable plastic. Polar has a "Wearlink" transmitter that is almost all cloth. I found it a lot more comfortable than the the other HRM transmitters, which are mostly plastic.

And the Wearlink does have a replaceable battery.

In the picture below, the only plastic part is the small part in the middle. It fits just below the breastbone.

rtmmtl's post above shows the replacement strap for this very transmitter!
