Model D Footstraps Come Loose

Post by Gravaman » February 7th, 2007, 6:18 pm

I am male heavy weight doing 10K. Both straps loosen up after about 10 minutes to where I have to lean down and pull them tight. Has anyone had this problem? Has anyone modified the strap? Does a Velcro strap work?

I take the time to knot the strap now, but that is not a good solution.

You might want to search using terms like "straps" "strapless" and "loose"... Just to get you started, here's one of the threads you'll discover.

The simplest solution is to quit using the straps. They aren't necessary except at high rates. Certainly not at the rates used in a 10k. I just keep the straps under my feet. That way they are held down and ain't goin' nowhere.

Yeah, I do use them on occasion — like for intervals and racing, when I might get the rate up over 30spm. But they don't loosen up at those times. I think that it might be a result of training a lot without them. Whatever it is that causes them to loosen doesn't happen as much if you have trained a lot without them at lower rates.

It is better to use the straps fas otherwise you'll get used to not using your feet for recovery and won't have the same complete muscle development.

I slide the straps through the 2nd opening underneath, down through the 3rd, back over and down through the 1st.

This keeps them from moving.
