Experiment with concept 2 sensor

Post by Robmay » October 13th, 2014, 5:14 pm

Can somebody tell me where exactly are position the sensor on a concept two B model. Is there more than one magnet on the flywheel and how far are they from the axle.

While waiting to find a good used concept 2, I would like to experiment using a concept 2 pm on my actual Rower from another brand by putting the sensor on the wheel. When i'll find a good used concept 2 I'll be able to switch back the pm on it, so no big lost, and interesring experiment, for someone who can spend 900$ on equipment. As this is the price those are selling used here in Canada.

Thanks for the help.

There are 3 magnets on the flywheel for the Model C, the pickup for the model B is almost identical so I would also assume 3 magnets. They are probably Neodynium magnets about 6mm or 1/4" diameter. Cannot tell you how far out they are from the centre, probably doesn't matter that much but they need to be aligned to the sensor and not to far away. The PM2 turns on with a 6mm magnet it you wave it closer than 25mm or 1" away from the sensor, I use this as a sensitivity test but on the rower it would be much closer.

Thank you so much for this information, are the 3 magnets spread at the same distance from one another, like at every 360/3 = 120 degre. The reason I ask for the b model is that the pickup is readily availabe and easy to customize. Somebody as probably try this before? Is there any other sensor pick up on a concept 2? The only pick up I have on my is on the sliding seat for the cadence.

Finally can someone tell me how many turn a wheel make on the concept two if you pull two feet on the chain?

Thanks for any help and to let me know if you have an old pm for my experience.

The chain is ¼" size and the sprocket has 14 teeth. 24 x 4 /14 = almost 7.
08-1940, 183cm, 83kg.
2024: stroke 5.5W-min@20-21. ½k 190W, 1k 145W, 2k 120W. Using Wods 4-5days/week. Fading fast.

Thanks for the info. It's actally 24 x 3 / 14 (3 teeth per inch in a 1/4" chain) but close enough!
