Rust on the Perf - Air intake

The perf on my model C is getting quite rusty.

I've wiped it with oil a few times but that doesn't seem to be helping.

So I'm going to try JonW's method today.

Has anyone else tried this and/or found another solution?
John- The oil should help, or you could try disassembling, thoroughly cleaning and applying a coat or two of car wax to it. Light coats though, so you don't plug up the holes. If it gets really bad, I think we still have some stainless C perfs. They were pricey, but for really corrosive environments they worked well......JonW

I tried various cleaners and then wax and none of them worked very well.

Then I tried some fine sandpaper and this worked very well.

I followed up the sandpaper with wax.

Now the perf is looking much better, and hopefully will stay this way.

Perhaps if you became less corrosive.

BTW, how are the Slides working out for you?
