Model C damper lever slips!

Does anyone have any advice on how to prevent the damper lever on my Model C from slipping downward while I row?

Currently I am using duct tape to hold the lever in place as a temporary solution but that's not ideal. Without tape, it tends to stay put best at the highest and lowest drag factors but in the 3-7 range, the lever tends to slip downward with gravity quite rapidly. As a result I can start a 30 min workout at 130 drag and end at around 105! :(

Model C?? Or Model D?? :? The "C" has little grooves that the damper lever is supposed to lock into while you row. You must REALLY be rockin' and rollin' during your workouts for the lever to slip completely out of the groove on a Model C! ;)

The Model D, on the other hand, was made without the indexed (so to speak) grooves. For all intents and purposes, you can move the lever on the "D" to any increment of any level. For example, mine is set to around 4.5 (best as I can tell). I can understand this slippage problem you're having on a Model D more than I can on a Model C.

In any case, I would take this up with ConceptII. Perhaps they can offer you a more graceful fix than duct tape.

Good luck.

I've used a couple layers of duct tape.

Call Concept 2. It's a known problem and they have a fix for it... a small button that increases the friction between the case and the moveable shutter. They will send it to you for free, installation is easy and it definitely helps prevent slippage (but doesn't cure the problem entirely).

The only time I've seen that was on a model C in Melbourne. The model Cs in Basingstoke don't have that feechur.

Shows ya how much I know. Although, the only Model C I've ever used (San Diego, USA) had the grooves. I figured they all did. Shame on me. Does CII ever come out with "releases" of the rower between letters?

I have the same problem at our gym but I just use a bit of 'bluetack' that I stick under the lever once I have set it where I want. (just remove it when finished and stick on the back of my training diary)

You can also turn the cover so the lever is at the top.

I have done this and the lever stays in place, also the duct tape is there too.

In our gym we fold up a piece of paper to wedge between. Works without a problem.

Thanks for all your advice!

Thanks for the advice - I think I will try the wedge of paper trick for now and then order the button from C2.
