PM3 Log card

Post by John Hendrie » May 29th, 2006, 10:48 am

I note that my log card is 80% full. Am I nearing the end of life? I think I recall something about erasing files but that will not restore full capacity. Would I be better off just buying a second card?

Thank you

Hi john,

just buy a new one and you've got all your data on the card as a backup!
Or just backup your carddata to an excel-file, and then erase the lot on your card and start all over again!

I've got two cards, but haven't got any use for the both of them!

Good luck and Happy rowing

Deleting workouts or users from the PM3 itself will not free up space until you use your PC and the current LogCard Utility. This will "pack" the card which squeezes the air (deleted workouts) from the card. The LogCard utility also has other "delete" functions, such as delete an entire user or delete workouts prior to a specific date, these features will free up space.

Unfortunately I am aMac user at V82 and cannot access a windows machine to download V90. It sounds like my only option is to buy another log card, correct?

Yes, unfortunately, you will need to update to Ver 90 or higher before you can use the Mac LogCard utility. Sorry about that. We're making progress, but we've had a lot of hurdles with getting the macs to be happy talking to the PM3.

John

I'm on mac myself and I put the exe file to update the firmware on the pm3 on a usb stick and brought that with the pm3 ( and the cable ) to a windowsmachine. It is about five minutes of work I remember.
It's very easy, there must be a windowsthing around somewhere.

Hope it works

Good Luck!

Scott,

There are windows machines at my daughter's business. What do I need to bring to download ver 90? I assume the PM3 and the USB cable which came with it. Anything else?

What is the link to the download? Is it a huge file - these machines are on a dialup modem.

Thank you for your help

John:

To update your PM3, you will need to bring your PM3, USB Cable to the windows computer. The file to download is about 600K.

Personally, I'd download this file, the "Fish game beta":
www.concept2.com/fish
The download link is on the above page.

To get the Mac LogCard utility is a bit bigger download. The link is here:
http://www.concept2.com/05/rower/servic ... tility.asp
This file is about 17Mb. (EDIT: CORRECTION: 5MB!) Dial up is supposed to take about 17 minutes if the connection is good.

I think you could down load the installers on your mac and then burn them to a CD as windows only or cross platform CD, and then just bring the CD and read from that on the PC.

Hi Scott,

This is an old thread but once again my newest log card is nearing a filled condition. However there is now a difference - my PM3 had some problems a little while back and C2 generously replaced it so I am now at version 97. Does this mean I now have the capability to erase the card (remember I am a Mac user).

Sorry for what may be a stupid question - I am not that good with computers

Tahnk you

You can erase the card using just the PM3 (Ver 97) by deleting all the users. When you delete the last user, it will format the card.

Alternatively, you can download the LogCard utility to your Mac (www.concept2.com/utility, click on downloads) and perform many operations on your card, including deleting all workouts from a particular user, or deleting all prior to a certain date (say, to clear off everything prior to 1/1/06), etc.

If you need help with the LogCard utility, please feel free to contact me directly at Concept2. If I am not available, Shawn or Cheri can probably help you.

The Mac version of the LogCard Utility will work with V97.

The LCU can selectively erase workouts.

To erase the card completely using the PM3 simply delete all users and the PM3 will reformat the card when the last user is deleted.

Thank you Scott & Citroen. I downloaded the utility to my Mac and it works beautifully. Ierased and reformatted my original card (#2 is a little over 80%) so am now back in business.

Thanx again
