Hi I am new here but just wanted a bit of advice if possible.
Briefly, I have ordered a Model D (black) with PM5 from Concept 2 but they are not shipping until after September 29th. I am now wondering if the wait for the PM5 is worth it when the PM3 version is available now and £50 cheaper.
I guess knowing what you know, would you hold out or just try to swap the order to a cheaper / older model. As background, the rower is for me and my wife to get/keep fit at home. We are by no means 'pros'!
Thanks in advance.

Re: Model D PM question
I personally would wait. It's less than a month, and you're getting the latest version which should keep you happy for many years. I bought my Model D with a PM3 in 2004, and haven't felt a burning desire to upgrade. Each new version does make it harder to resist though!
Cheers

Thanks for the response Dave. I guess I am too eager to get it and get rowing! Hopefully the PM5 is worth the wait and does not have early teething problems.

Re: Model D PM question
It will be worth the wait. You then won't have to use the outdated log cards, you get Bluetooth, and you get a backlight (something we moonlight rowers have been agitating for over many years).
In case you ever want to dispose of your rower, or upgrade (one day there will be a Model F) then the resale value of your erg will be higher if it is equipped with a PM5 monitor.
Development for the legacy PM3 was stopped long before the announcement of the PM5.
I don't think the PM5 will suffer from many teething problems because (i) it is really only a modest evolution of the PM4, mainly dealing with the aforementioned improvements and (ii) C2 engineering is generally conservative and sound, undertaken by passionate people who genuinely believe in and love their product. So, it's not a case of being an early adopter of Windows 8 (or the Surface, or Vista, or Windows Me).
I'm an impatient fellow also but, for the sake of a couple of weeks, you really are much better off waiting.

Re: Model D PM question
As am I - I ordered my new erg today.
I was able to sell my old erg, and it seems that PM3/PM4 equipped ergs sell second hand for around $650 - $750. The ergs hold their value astonishingly well.
I'm told October 1st is the likely despatch date for my new erg.
