model c flywheel axle

Hello
I noticed some rust forming around the flywheel axle that extends into the grey frame itself.
There is no rust on the 14 tooth sprocket, but the piece of axle (the piece of tubing) that holds the sprocket has some rust.
I know how to take off the flywheel according to the instructions here: http://www.concept2.com/files/pdf/us/in ... emoval.pdf
but on the opposite side of the frame which holds the axle in place, there is a black cap, bearing cover, once removed, a bearing with a nut is exposed.
See schematic here: http://www.concept2.com/files/pdf/us/in ... ematic.pdf
if I remove nylock axle nut on both sides of the flywheel, will the axle just pop out easily?
I figured I'd ask here before I attempt anything (the rower works 100%, and there is no rust on the sprocket, but I figured I should clean or replace the axle at some point)
I have attached a picture
thank you!
