Model B chain issues

Hi all

My neighbour kindly gave me his old C2 Model B but I can see there are immediately some issues with the chain rubbing and I’m not sure how to fix it. Do I need to dismantle it completely? I have the online manual

Also what combination of cogs and air controller on the side is best for SS?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

It looks like there is some misalignment of the wheel inside the frame. Did the frame get bent somehow? Is the wheel mounted correctly? I have a model B and the chain runs through the middle of the cage opening, not off to one side like your image shows.

As far as settings go, the model B is a very "heavy" machine, i.e. high drag factors, so I'd put the chain on the large sprocket and close the air vents all the way. I made a "speed ring" that I zip tie to the side of the cage to reduce the drag factor even more.

Good luck and have fun!

Cheers for the reply

Do you know how I can realign the wheel?

Many thanks

Sorry, I don't have an answer. I'd ask the neighbor what might have happened to it. That might give you some idea of where to start.

On the other hand, the 40 year old machine might work just fine as is, even if the chain does rub a little.
