Retrofit new model d fan cover assembly on a model c rower

Hey there, first time poster.
I picked up an old model c rower off marketplace.
I hate the way the damper/fan assembly looks! I wonder if there are any people on here who have somehow put the newer model d fan assembly on the model c?

2) Put at least 100k meters on it before you do anything rash - I bet you'll soon get used to it.

Not going to work.
Just use it and if after 2 years you are still on it four times a week, sell it and upgrade to a new Model D.
Most people don't last 6 months.

If you decide to decorate your C cover -- be aware it's functional. Don't throw a pretty cloth over it.
Even putting boxes or furniture in your airflow will change your drag factor. Not a big deal, just display drag factor after you mod it and play with the damper or mesh to get back to a usable DF. The more your airflow is blocked the easer it is to pull the handle (less airflow = lower drag factor).
At one time they made a quiet kit for model C. Not sure if it still exists. See this thread for details and <hidden> part number:
