Just purchased a used model E. some dark pixelation on the PM4 screen. Still visible when not using the erg.
Would a new led screen solve this or will I need a new pm4/5.
Thanks for your help

In your decision making.... Concept2 stopped supporting the PM4 (no big deal, informal support is great for it) and stopped supporting the pm4 with ergdata (deal breaker for me). They kept an old version of ergdata out for a few months, "Ergdata for PM3 PM4" app, but it had bugs, they weren't fixed and the old version support was dropped.
Do you use the concept2 log? If so do your get data into the log using ergdata? If that broke would it force you to buy a pm5, or switch to ergzone, etc?
PM4 Screen is pretty cheap vs a new pm5, $33 USD vs $160 USD PM5 Retrofit Kit. Install

But if you're going to buy pm5 in the future then buying the pm5 now and selling the pm4 is a reasonable option.
It's a new rower to you. Not sure if you are an experienced rower or not. If you've never used ergdata / concept2 log you should try it. You get some free swag at milestones and many people find it motivating. PM5 and log also let you do exercise tracking with garmin, strava, training peaks, etc. Everyone is different. If my pm5 failed and i had a working pm4 I'd still buy a new pm5. But others are happy with pm4 because it does all they want a pm to do. If you're an experienced rower sorry, you know all above.

You just need a new screen.
The graphics display just unplugs and you fit a new one. Depending on the age of your monitor the earlier versions had the screen contrast setting all over the place and you cannot change the default setting in the monitor.
All the new displays need a setting of about 136 so if yours is way one way or the other it will come on really light or really dark and you will need to adjust it every time you change the batteries.
