PM5 & Garmin Venu 2 Plus & Polar H9

Hi community.

Since a week I am proud owner of a brandnew RowERG with PM5. What is the best way and how do I connect the PM5 with my Garmin Venu 2 Plus watch and also connect with my Polar H9 heart rate sensor?

I am still struggling with this task. Seems to me I have at each and every training session at first to establish all the connections? Devices seem not to remember the config settings?

What do I want to achieve:
1. Using the PM5 display for stats during the training session.
And
2. Using my iphone to run a training video which I am following on
And
3. get my training stats at / or after the session loaded (automatically) into my iPhone Garmin Connect and (optional) Apple Health.
And
4. my devices should remember the setup for the next training day.

Would it be possible to achieve all these four targets at the same time?

May anyone here have experience how to set this up, which device and software to connect with what other device and all in which order?

I have already tried to find information in the Internet about this, but no luck so far. Never thought it would be so difficult to get my top class RowERG smart…

Many many thanks for helpful input!!

Yeah,

Garmin's documentation isn't too clear what devices can and can't do. I had the first gen Venu, and I assume the Venu 2 plus still doesn't support the ANT+ Smart Trainer profile either (see https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2022/01/gar ... eview.html), so your options are limited, but probably acceptable.

Easiest setup is to connect your Polar H9 heartrate monitor to the PM5 via ANT+, and to your Venu. You connect your PM5 to ErgData, and let it upload to the Concept2 website. On the C2 website, you can connect to Garmin connect, and it will automatically upload your training to Garmin Connect from there on. No need to do anything else.

On your watch, you could start the rowing activity, but you can discard it afterwards. This allows statistics like training readyness and training load to be updated. Not sure if that is needed, but it can't hurt.

Or you can just not use the Venu 2 during the session, use ErgData (or similar, like ErgZone) to send your session data to c2 logbook and configure c2 logbook to forward the data to Garmin connect (Edit Profile / Applications).

I do this with my Instinct 2x and it works very well: you don't need to do anything on your watch.
Right after the session is over, the session data will appear in c2 logbook and Garmin Connect.

Not sure about Apple Health.
