Hi everyone

I have bought a brand new model D PM5 last week and since yesterday I started to ear a noise every time I swing, at each beginning of the pulling movement. I quickly released it was the white plastic that was vibrating, so something was touching it. It wasn't doing it the first days but now it is there and won't leave.

Of course when the plastic is removed the problem is solved, but I tried to set the plastic in every possible way, nothing works fine.

When watching the chain inside, I see that it vibrates a lot at each start of a pull. I think this is where the problem comes from.

Is there a way to tighten the chain a little bit? Have some of you met this problem before?

It's a technique problem. The chain should follow a straight course if your technique is good.

There's no bum shoving, no legs over vertical at the catch, no arms only in that video.

Thanks Citroen. There is nothing surprising for me in this video though. But I'll check if the noise disappears if I pay attention to my technique and what (bad) movement of mine could trigger the noise.

If I really can't find I will record a small video of my technique

What is “the white plastic” you are referring to?

The plastic protection as shown in this picture:

Someone else had a similar issue a while back.

I don't remember the details, but it's either the plastic not sitting where it should be or the chain pulley assembly not being quite right. (I think)

It's an easy fix once you figure out how it should be set up.

That plastic is easy to remove. Maybe a clip or something has come loose. Here are instructions on how to replace the bungee cord. You can follow it to open up and see if what's inside looks like it should. Of course, you don't need to replace the bungee cord unless is is the problem.

Only goes in properly one way.

Has notches in it which must sit over the leg studs so it drops into the lowest possible position to avoid the chain.

My chain hits the plastic on the recovery if i recall. It's been there since the first day i bought it, I've tuned it out now. My plastic is slightly deformed (curling) which means it won't sit flat on the supports along the rail. I probably should mention it to C2 to see if they're willing to help.

Curled which way ? You can flip it 180 Degrees.

Put it on a flat surface, use piece of wood to hold it flat and pour boiling water on it. Hold until it cools off.

At the flywheel end, at 10cm until the corners its curling up on both sides.

Will ironing it under a tea towel work?

I'm back with good news. I'm not sure what resolved the issue though.

I did not change my technique for sure and I had already used rowers in fitness clubs before along with getting trainer pieces of advice. This doesn't imply I'm a perfect rower though...

Regarding the rower itself, I removed the white plastic protection completely and also removed the black plastic part at the front of the rower (the small one with one screw and a hook). I put back the white part to check where the contact could be by watching inside through the front where the black piece had been removed. It wasn't easy to notice. So I removed the white plastic plenty of times and tried to flatten it... nothing was helping.

So I went here to post.

The day after I told myself I would do a video so I put back everything. And... no issue anymore.

So I'm wondering if the black piece at the front isn't helping with the "tightness" and was the problem. By removing and placing it again it may have ensured its good role again? That's a possibility. The point is I don't know its purpose. You will certainly know it and tell me if the issue could have come from it. This black piece of plastic is attached to a metal hook.
