PM2 won't register rowing

Hi all, I have a PM2 Rev 2.1 which appears perfect in every way (clean, good clear screen, no obvious damage) but will not register any rowing. I replaced the cable but no change. What other things can I check? I am handy with a soldering iron if there is a part on the board I can test and replace.

Your best option is to replace the PM2 with a PM5.

Rather short of cash, so if I can find a way to fix it would rather do that...

"perfect in every way (clean, good clear screen, no obvious damage) but will not register any rowing"... meaning you can power it up, buttons work, etc., but the pm2 does not pick up your strokes.

Reseat the signal cable. See if cable is good. Check flywheel magnets, etc., to make sure a signal is reaching the pm2.

Any other erg nearby where you can swap parts to see if your pm2 works on a different erg? To isolate the problem to "no signal arriving at PM2" vs. "the PM2 is broken and can't hear the signal".

If pm2 is dead then google pm2 repair advice on this forum, but likely you will end up following Citreon's advice -- buy a pm5. If the pm5 price tag is not acceptable look for a used pm2 or pm3 or row without a monitor using heart rate. A new pm5 is pretty cheap given ergs last forever and you'll get a decade plus use from it.

Then a second hand PM3, PM4 or PM5 would work.

PM me if your good with a soldering iron and a multimeter.

If the board is clean and has no corrosion but powers up and doesn't register your rowing there are a few things you can check.

Contact me directly I have repaired hundreds of these.
