PM5 Row logging issue
PM5 Row logging issue
I have an issue with the logging of rows on the C2E erg rower with a PM5 monitor at my local gym. IE just now after just under 4k of an 8k row a pop up screen appeared on my phone via the ergdata app while I was still rowing asking me if I had completed the workout 'yes' or 'no'. If you press 'no' the pop up clears but just before this appears the metrics on the phone freeze while on the PM5 they are still counting down. The big problem is the fact that whatever I have rowed to that point is lost and not logged on the Concept logbook. This has happened a few times now and even last week while I was doing the April Fools challenge and I had to re-row 6k of a 13k row. The firmware is v22 and to my mind should be v32 I am trying to get my local gym to update the firmware assuming this may be the reason.
I have not had the same issue at another local gym using the C2D erg rower's with PM5 monitor but do not know what firmware they are on or is this a Bluetooth issue.

Re: PM5 Row logging issue
Hi,
No idea what the problem is about, but keeping firmware up to date is a good idea anyway.
You don't have to rerow when PM5 is going on counting down. You can finish your workout without ergData (and miss its metrics) and log the workout manually with the verification code from PM5. Perhaps this is a better option than rerow several k of your workout...![😄](//twemoji.maxcdn.com/2/svg/1f604.svg)

Go to details of the session and there you can press one of the 5 buttons to get the key shown. I cannot remember which one exactly, but you will see in the screen.

It's the fourth button down, and you need to press it twice to get the verification code. Admittedly, you can bulk upload your metres too, but they won't show the details

Re: PM5 Row logging issue
Okay so V22 or V32 its still an old version of the PM5, i.e its a gen 1 PM5 and now we are up to a gen 3 PM5.
There are some serious compatibility issues with the Bluetooth and what phone your using.
I have to use my old Samsung Phone from 2017 to work with the old gen 1 PM5. My old phone doesn't even connect to the new second Gen PM5.
If you have a brand new phone and a brand new PM5 then no problems.
Its more than just firmware, it was actual hardware implementation within the PM5 so it cannot be fixed.
All you can do is update the Firmware and hope it fixes the problem, if not your stuffed.

Sell the ancient PM5 on eBay or Craigslist.Carl Watts wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2022, 6:49 amIts more than just firmware, it was actual hardware implementation within the PM5 so it cannot be fixed.
Buy a new PM5 V9xx hardware with V210 firmware with the profit from the sale.
Re: PM5 Row logging issue
OMG thanks for the intel, m/c stuffed up today 7k into a 9k row. It is more than just a bit annoying as I like to review my metrics in full in my logbook - but lets be real about this it is not life threatening with what is going on in the world today. I am hoping to connect via cable to resolve this issue.Carl Watts wrote: ↑April 22nd, 2022, 6:49 amOkay so V22 or V32 its still an old version of the PM5, i.e its a gen 1 PM5 and now we are up to a gen 3 PM5.

Look at the timeline, you need to update it for them with a cable and a laptop using the C2 Utility.
