Curious as to what the drag factor is on a clean machine.
Mine is an early model d pm5 from 2014.
Damper 1 drag factor is 79
Damper 10 is 223
Needs cleaned or good to go?

You're good to go.
More info here:
https://www.concept2.com/service/monito ... rag-factor
"A brand new RowErg will have a drag factor of 90 or less at a damper setting of 1 and 200 or more at a damper setting of 10."

I'm sure "good to go" is the right answer.
That said, its loosen a few screws, poke the buckle with a screwdriver so you can get at it. Loosen screw on buckle so you can undo buckle. Wire mesh can stay in the cage most places. Brush off mesh.
Takes about 5 mins the first time, then about 2 mins every other time. Given your erg is 2014 might want to do it just to have a clean erg.
This video is good. For me, when he pulls the entire mesh out of the flywheel I leave it in the bottom few brackets, and then brush it half at a time. Makes it a bit easier. I tried a rag to clean it, was hard. A grocery store vegetable brush did a great job.

(and oil your chain, and inspect the $1 brass thingy on your handle and replace if its starting to crack) or do nothing, they really are indestructible.

Thanks everyone. I picked this machine up a few years ago($200) and I believe it was used more for a clothes hanger than a piece of exercise equipment.
When I originally got it home I cleaned the mesh, blades and so on. I also oil the chain every 4-6 months.
I just wasn’t sure how often it needs to be done.
Thanks again

Looks like you had a great bargain there. Typically they sell for much more in a much worse state...
