Upgrade PM3 to PM5 or flip Model D for a new one?

Post by cdvshaw@gmail.com » July 9th, 2021, 4:30 am

I have a PM3 with just under 2 million metres. The screen has clouded over so I can barely see the details. Please advise on how I can clear it?
Should I consider upgrading it to a PM3

The PM3 screen is available as a user replaceable part.

BTW, split from old topic because it was off-topic - please don't bump ancient threads.

You can get a new display for them but if its a really old version of the PM3 with a serial number starting with a 1, 2 or a 3 it needs other work doing to it as well.

The PM5 is now onto its 3rd Hardware version and is now an excellent monitor. Realistically the older PM3's have had their day now and after you use a PM5 there is no going back with the wireless heartrate and the connectivity to your mobile phone to run Apps.

Off topic sorry. But how do create a link to share your ERG data Carl?

FWIW - both your profile and your log are working for me, so whatever you did worked.

Yes it worked, however closer inspection of the results revels there is a problem with the monitor or the pickup.

You can see the rating has huge spikes so there is a problem for sure. Possibly its even configured to the wrong version of rower.

Thats what is really great about ErgData and a open LogBook, its a clear picture to a verified row.

The number of people out there rowing with a faulty monitor or having it setup incorrectly is far greater than you would think and just a verification code doesn't highlight the problems but the graphs from ErgData tell the whole story.

Some of the earlier rows the pace, wattage and calories were coming in deranged.

I've updated the PM5 (mine is a brand new rower) which seems to have fixed it, the last warped readings were on the 3rd of July I think.

If it stays stable I'll stick with the version of the ERG app and PM5 I have.
