Foot pads and seat vibrate when I stop rowing
Foot pads and seat vibrate when I stop rowing
I cleaned the flywheel and had to remove it to clean out a piece of trapped lint. I reinstalled the flywheel and now whenever I stop rowing the foot pads and seat vibrate; especially as the flywheel slows down. It's not like the whole rower or PM5 visually vibrate or shake. It's more like I can feel the light buzzing/rumbling vibration. Anyone have any ideas on what went wrong or how to fix it? I have a Model D. Thanks

Missplaced or lost a wheel weight? Tighten the axle nut down so the flywheel is snug on the axle? Damper cover snug?

All the weights are still intact and the damper cover is tight. I loosened the nut underneath that black cap opposite the flywheel and that helped a bit but I'm not sure if that was a good idea. Is that one supposed to be snug too? When I first re-attached the flywheel I didn't force it or anything just kind of stopped when it resisted and the vibrations started right away.

Flywheel has gone out of balance.
On certain Model D rowers, the axel bearings are a loose fit in the frame because the rubber that holds them is a loose fit inside the frame.
When you stop rowing the flywheel bounces about in the rubber bearing holders producing a noticeable vibration that you can also hear.
I added a plastic spacer round the holes in the frame for the rubber bearing holders in mine, however the flywheel still needs to be balanced
Said it loads of times on here, if you get a brand new rower, mark the balance weight positions and label the weights because they are all made of different thickness metal.

Re: Foot pads and seat vibrate when I stop rowing
Thanks for all the insight. I took the flywheel off and put in on a blanket then right back in but from what you're saying I guess one of the weights must have moved a bit because I know none are missing. Is there anything I can do to get the flywheel back in balance or am I stuck buying a new one? Thanks again
