Help! PM5 stopped working :(

My PM5 suddenly conked out. As I turn it on, a screen displaying the text "All external data is invalid." appears briefly, followed by:

I thought I just needed to update the firmware so I tried to via USB cable - it can connect and detect it, but it will stop at 11% and the dialogue "Error programming the PM Application" appears. I also tried resetting to factory defaults using the button in the Concept2 utility app, but nothing happens. When I try to do the factory reset pressing the front buttons and the reset button at the back, the screen will display "Setting factory defaults" for a second and then it will turn off, and then it will flicker back on again displaying the same message (it's an endless looping until I let go of the buttons).
I may have tried all types of reset mechanisms, but sadly to no avail. I wonder if it's really the end for my PM5. My C2 Model D is just a few years old, with low mileage and mainly used for a quick warmup and as part of my conditioning workouts. It's kept well and cleaned regularly and I don't move it or even turn it upright. Our gym had older C2 rowers which were roughly used on a daily basis, but they're all still functioning without any monitor replacements, so I find it quite upsetting that this has happened to my rower at home where I'm the only user. I tried checking the warranty period but I believe mine has just gone beyond it.
Any ideas on what else I can do? I feel like it's just a minor glitch in the system so I hope it will still eventually work.
