250DF

Hi all
Just started rowing again and my ErgData giving out
250DF for my row on level 10, it will not go above
250DF is this normal it sits around 248-250

Assume this is not a model D.... because that is 2 times mod D operating range.
If drag factor cannot do as high as it used to clean the fan assembly. Dirt trapped in the screen will act like a lower damper setting. Less air gets in. Lower drag factor.

A drag factor of 250 on level 10 is very high and suggests not only a clean machine but also possibly some other modification. Most Model Ds get 220-230 max DF from lever movement alone on a clean machine. Unless you only intend to use the machine for efforts of 1 to 2 minutes, its hard to understand why you'd want the DF this high, let alone higher. You can see the DF on the PM5 as well as ergdata to check they are displaying the same. Menu>more options>display drag factor then row a few strokes and its displayed.

Take off the damper cover & perf screen. That should take your DF close to 300. Also buy some beachfront property on the Dead Sea. Don't forget your headband & a good fan.

Taking off the damper cover won't make any difference - I have tried that before.
However, if you take off the mesh grille you can get the df up to about 370 on a cold day.
On my PM3 the DF reading reverts to 0 when you hit DF 255(round about damper level 7-8) so a DF reading of 110 on Level 10 is actually about DF 365.
I don't know if it works the same way on a PM4 or PM5.
It is not any harder or easier on such a high DF, it is just the stroke is a lot slower( or as Henry would put it, lazy
).

My Model D erg was bought directly from C2 (as an ex-BRIC rower and only 4k on the clock) and it had a DF of 242 to start with. I've never been able to get it over 220 since I hoovered it, but I don't want it that high anyway.
It does sound very unusual that it's up at circa 250. Is it a Model D?

Hi everyone
Yes it’s a brand new machine last year, not done much on it, it is a model D pm5, so I done the drag factory setting today on the Rower and yes it’s reading the same as the ErgData, my maximum I can get mine up to is the 248-250 it won’t go higher, any how I done a 5k row keeping the spins at 25pm come in at 18.58 it was really hard going

As it's brand new 250df isn't too much of a surprise to me. However, for 99% of us there is no benefit in training at such a high drag. You'll probably go faster at a drag of 125

I suspected that would be the case - does that mean that a drag factor value of 10 would actually be DF 265 or DF 266?

Just wondering why you chose such a high drag factor for a 5k. High drag certainly penalizes your speed of action, so limits the rating and maybe length, but may not be needed to reach that force level.
