Hi there,

I have a Indoor Rower Model D w/PM3, which I bought back in 2013. However, recently, I have noticed that the resistance is low and does not change, despite adjusting the relevant lever from 1 to 10.

Can you please help me understand what is wrong, and how I may go about fixing it?

Have you opened the fan cage and cleaned eight year's collection of dust out of it?

No but that sounds like a great start!

I did get an engineer to service it about 18 months ago to be fair...not sure if he did that as part of his service.

When you move the damper level from one extreme to another does the sound change?

Does the amount of wind created change when you are rowing in one position vs the other extreme?

If not see if anything moves to cover air openings when you move the lever. " the resistance is low and does not change" is odd, think this is what you get when the air openings are totally blocked -- not expected when you " did get an engineer to service it about 18 months ago".

Was the " noticed that the resistance is low" a sudden change.. immediately different than how it was previously behaving or something gradual ?

I assume when you pull the handle the fan spins and makes fan noises... ?

Thanks Tsnor and Citroen. It looks like vacuuming it fixed the resistance issue. Can you please provide further advice for maintenance? Sorry for the noob question, but should I oil the chain? And what else should I do to make it useful for the long term?

Yeah, it's recommended to oil the chain every 100 hours. Use 3 in 1 oil and a cloth. No problem at all
