I have two model D updated (black) rowers that have the same issue.
When you start off pulling, there is plenty of tension and it feels like a normal rower.
As you start pulling faster and harder the chain will all of a sudden lose all resistance causing you to fly off the seat.
I checked the website and it says that it could be the clutch in the flywheel. I oiled the clutch and the same issue is happening in both of the rowers.
The website said I would need part 2940 but when I search the site I can't find any where to purchase the part.
Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Chain complete loss of resistance
Are you using them at low temperatures? That will affect the operation of the clutch.
I think this is what you would need:

Edit: But if you're going to replace the sprocket you should probably also replace the chain.
This P/N is both: https://shop.concept2.com/parts/83-nick ... ocket.html

Re: Chain complete loss of resistance
The clutch bearings are stuffed.
They are very hard to replace and if your in the USA you would just replace the whole flywheel.
The correct Concept 2 factory fitted bearing is the KOYO RC-121610 with the plastic Nylon cage, if you want a better bearing that engages faster and can take more load then use the KOYO RC-121610-FS which is the stainless steel leaf spring version but its like 3 times the price but that is what I fitted to mine after the nylon one failed.
They are a tight press fit into the hub and you need to make an extraction tool to get it out or have access to a press. You cannot use as hammer to just bash it out and bash a new one back in.

Re: Chain complete loss of resistance
Earlier posts in a different thread also said something about flywheel balance, and that replacing just the sprocket was not the repair of choice because the flywheel was balanced as a unit. Not sure if I have this right, Carl who posted above would know, or maybe someone else can correct.
