2016 PM5 apparently dead?

Hi all,

I have at home here a PM5 monitor which came with a club machine bought in 2016. It has been on that machine its whole life. It appears to be dead - nothing on the screen at all, with or without batteries. I've also tried it on another machine which I know has a functional cable, but it still produces nothing. Batteries are fresh - it apparently gave a low battery warning, the batteries were changed, then shortly afterward the monitor died. Again, I've also tried a different set I know are ok. No joy.

During Covid we've been unable to use our club gym, so the ergs have been farmed out to members, rotating "owner" every 8 weeks. This monitor was working with one member - who replaced the batteries - and went to its current owner fully functional. The only thing I can think of is that some of the cleaning fluid used when it passed between members got inside the thing and has caused corrosion/gremlins. There is nothing visibly wrong with the circuit board, but there are signs of cleaning fluid around the edge of the LCD screen when you lift it away from it's bed.

Any ideas? I suppose I could try the LCD screen from the good monitor on it to eliminate that (or not)...

Have opened the case and checked the circuit board for any corrosion, broken traces, etc.
What happens if you grab a USB-A to USB-B printer cable and connect it to your laptop?

I've had the case open, no joy. I've also swapped the LCD screen for one which I know is functional, again to no avail.

Plugging it in is a good idea though, thanks.

Leave it overnight with no batteries then fit what your sure is a NEW set of Alkaline batteries straight out of the packet.

If it comes to life, factory default reset it then update the firmware for it.

I'm just not getting PM5 monitors to repair, they are very reliable.

The only issues are the usual battery acid leaks and smashed LCD displays.
