The one way or clutch bearing failures are quite random. The one on my Model C lasted a lot longer than my Model D and received similar care. The leaf springs in the stock bearings are plastic and part of the cage. I would suggest that anyone really thrashing their rower on a regular basis upgrade the bearing to the stainless steel leaf spring version of the Koyo bearing part number RC-121610-FS which is 3 times the price. Its my opinion that it also locks up on the shaft faster as I cannot recall any "Dead" or no resistance at the start of the drive.

Carl - you mentioned your clutch bearings receiving the “same level of similar care”. Could you elaborate on that care. I remember reading here somewhere describing such care but have been unable to locate it. My search of recommended maintenance by C2 didn’t turn anything up. Apologies for high jacking the post, but it seems part of the conversation.
