This is the copy of an email that I just sent to Nathan Paulin and Trevor Braun at Concept2. I am hoping that someone on this Forum might be able help with this probroblem.
Dear Trevor and Nathan,
Since early October every time I go to row on my Dynamic Indoor Rower the PM5 boots with the following message:
The Sensor Wire is damaged. Please contact Concept2 for repair or replacement.
I have contacted Concept2 and gone through the recommended steps to verify that this message is correct. The unhappy result is that it appears to be true.
The good news is that I have now received two replacement parts — a GENERATOR PCB COIL and a TACH WIRE CABLE.
The bad news is that I have no idea how to thread the Cable through the Front Leg/Monitor Arm Assembly.
You both have been presented to me as members of Concept2’s Engineering and Technical Support Team that would know how to do this.
I must tell you that it is beginning to look as if I will have to order a new Front Leg/Monitor Arm Assembly.
I am reluctant to make such an order because in spite of the message informing me that the Sensor Wire has been Damaged the PM5 seems to be recording data correctly. Could it be that this is a software problem? Or perhaps the fault lies in the Sensor? Or maybe Concept2 has someone in San Francisco with the technical knowledge to take care of this problem?
Any ideas you may have would be greatly appreciated.
Warmest regards,
Charles

Re: Threading Tach Wire Cable through Front Leg/Monitor Arm Assembly on Dynamic Indoor Rower
I think I may have found the problem. I lubricate the chain on the Dynamic Indoor Rower as instructed, which is about every 50 days, and today was the day to do it. I just follow the instructions in the user manual. When I pulled out the chain to rub it with the instructed teaspoon of purified mineral oil applied to a paper towel, I noticed that the Bungee cord had jumped its pulley track. Of course when I finished lubricating the chain I reset the bungee in its track. When done I rowed a few strokes to make sure everything was in order. When I booted up the message about having a damaged sensor cord was no longer showing. For this reason I think the problem may have been solved. Let's hope it is not a case of post hoc, ergo propter hoc.
