Is there a cheaper option to mount an iPad to the C2 rower other than the one they sale?

There is one on ebay although it puts the screen lower than the PM5 and worringly in range of the handle should it fly out of your hands

EDIT: having looked closer at the official one it looks like they put the tablet in the same place

I would love to get a c2 mount. Unfortunately for me, it’s only available in US and Canada.

I’ve looked at some of the third party mounts available, but (in DE at least) they all seem to be clips that hold the tablet flat on the monitor arm. Unless the arm is in the full vertical position, the tablet is going to be tipped downwards.

Sitting the tablet in a chair to the side gives me a crick in the neck.

FYI...I recently contacted Concept2 who confirmed that this mount will only work on Models C & D (not Model E). I am piecing together a solution for my Model E from Ram Mounts.

Thanks nomath. Yes, DE=Germany.

The NL site has better pictures and I can see that it is (understandably) mounted to the frame such that the monitor arm has to be in the upright position to use. It keeps it away from the chain, but it would be nice not to have everything so far away on relatively safe steady state rows.

Has anyone come up with a better solution?

I am wondering the same thing. I just installed concept2’s mount and as far as I can tell it blocks the concept 2 monitor .?? The mount puts the iPad in front of the monitor so you can’t swing the monitor arm all the way down. Not a good solution especially for the price

I don't use a tablet holder, but looking to the pictures on https://shop-nl.concept2.com/nl/accesso ... l-c-d.html
e.g. the picture below, there is a vertical spacing between the PM and the holder

⬆️ Missed the edit window. Adding that item was approximately 24USD from a major electronics/tech big box.

jackarabit: Yes! Brilliant! I never thought to look in the photography section.

Now to find a combination that fits. B)

Allen: The jaws of the tablet mount pictured adjust from 6 to 9.25”. Oddly, it will not open far enuf to clamp my ipad pro 10.5” in portrait orientation but easily accommodates almost any tablet in landscape. I think an equivalent must be quite easy to find in DE. My home is in the tiny U.S. state of Delaware, also abbreviated as DE.

jackarabit: I’ve ordered the bits and pieces. I found a mount where both top and bottom jaws are adjustable. I think it can raise the tablet just enough to get over a phone mount. Not that I need both, but because I can . I expect I’ll have to be careful as the battery cover seems to be the weak point in the setup.

I’ll post pictures if it works out.

Yes, the cover would be vulnerable to cracking If the ballhd is locked hard and the long lever of the mount struck and displaced by accident. I backed up the round head bolt with a thin fender washer inside the batt cover. Perhaps the base of the mount you are considering can be attached to the monitor arm behind the monitor? Imo you can and will do better than either the C2 offering or the 3D printer, material deposition design. 👍

Unfortunately, I can’t post a picture. No matter how small I make it I get “Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.”

In general, it worked out pretty well. The monitor arm has enough flexibility that I don't think the battery cover will break easily.

I am a little disappointed in the tablet holder itself. It is relatively flimsy and I have to take the tablet out of its case to fit even though it is a very thin case. I guess I can't complain for 13€.

A few notes if someone else tries this:
  1. The position of the hole in the battery cover is important. Not only does there have to be room for the screw that holds the cover on but the batteries leave little room and the screw that holds the ball joint has to be between them. Even the flat hot shoe mount I used had to go between the batteries. Yes, I have more than one hold in my battery cover now....
  2. The are probably needs a zip tie to keep it in place in case one of the screws come loose. I wouldn't want the tablet to suddenly fall to the side.
